About the Cinna-Honey Butter Recipe
The holidays are inevitably filled with tons of dinner parties — many of which include turkey/ham, mashed potatoes, and lots of bread — so we wanted to come up with a few unique spins on the classic recipes that would set our meals apart.
Grandma's rolls have always been a staple at holidays, and they were always served with an array of toppings such as apple butter, luxury jams, and, of course, butter. We figured we'd fill out the collection with some fresh, cinnamon-infused honey butter. Plus, we were able to use the leftovers to make these incredible Hemp Seed Pumpkin Truffles for a "healthy" dessert.
Cinnamon has been used as early as 2800 BC for anointment, embalming, and ailments (NCBI, 2015).
When it comes to health, cinnamon is a great source of:
-
Antioxidants: helps stop damage to cells that can cause diseases like cancer, heart disease, and more
-
Linalool: a terpene with anti-inflammatory, anti-epileptic, antipsychotic properties
And honey is a wonderful:
-
Anti-inflammatory: reduces inflammation or swelling
-
Anti-bacterial: destroys bacteria. Because of this property, honey has been used to treat wounds
When shopping for honey, look for something local and as naturally processed as possible. Generally, the darker the honey is, the better quality it will be.
Please note: You should never give honey to a child under one year old.
Opportunities for Cannabinoid Infusion

When substituting or adding cannabis-infused products, be aware of how many mg of CBD (or, if you're in a legal state, THC) are in each portion of the recipe you are making. The standard dose of CBD is 15-30mg, but varies based on tolerance, reason for use, severity of condition, etc. We recommend starting low and going slow; click here to learn more about dosing) and be sure to read our CBD Safety article and talk to your doctor before incorporating new cannabinoids into your routine.
