Simple, fun health science for adults
When it comes to health, we believe that it's important to have a basic understanding of the science behind the wellness practices we are exploring so that we can be responsible and safe while making choices that work best for our unique needs.
Our Wellness Workshops aim to bring simple, hands-on education about holistic approaches to health and wellness. We learn best when we get to put our knowledge into practice; our Wellness Workshops provide an opportunity for guests to interact with the new information they are learning in a fun, comfortable setting that is also conducive to one-on-one guidance.
The Essential Oils Wellness Workshop
Essential oils can be found in most health foods markets, but how to use them seems to be an elusive secret for most. Essential oils are powerful wellness tools that should be treated with just as much respect as any other medicine, so our goal with this event was to help introduce people to the safety of using oils and how to use them most effectively in their daily life.
The Science of Essential Oils
When we first started learning about essential oils, we couldn't help but wonder how these little substances could be so powerful. As we continued our research, we found that the main component of essential oils is terpenes — a compound that we were familiar with from our cannabis studies.
Terpenes are the compounds that give plants their smell and flavor, and also provide therapeutic effects. When it comes to cannabis, they're what dictate the effects a particular strain will have.
For those of us living in prohibition, this means that we can substitute the relief from some of our favorite cannabis strains with other plants and essential oils.
At our Wellness Workshop, we went over the four main terpenes found in cannabis, their effects, and what other plants they can be found in. All essential oils were labeled with their major terpene correlating to those found in cannabis so that guests could begin familiarizing themselves with the aromas and effects of these compounds while creating their own body care items to take home.
In addition to talking about terpenes and essential oils, we also covered the basics of the endocannabinoid system and how to access CBD legally and safely while living in prohibition. At the end of our presentation, guests created four items to take home: a sanitizing spray, scent roller, CBD-enhanced relief roller, and CBD-enhanced anti-aging face oil. (All coming soon to the website!)
A Successful Workshop
Overall, the workshop was a great success! We had 12 participants total (wow!) in a range of demographics. Guests were able to talk with founder and guide Kristen Williams about any and all of their wellness related questions, and left with smiles and new, natural treats for their body.
Special thanks to Clover's Natural Market for giving us the opportunity to hold a workshop in their space and for all of their help and support leading up to the event!
We can't wait until our next Wellness Workshop; be sure to sign up for our newsletter for updates on our upcoming events!
